Sport
Golf is available nearby at the beautiful, world class Lely Flamingo and Mustang championship courses, designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr and Lee Trevino. The 20,000 sq ft clubhouse has full restaurant and bar facilities and a very well stocked golf pro shop. Club and shoe hire, tuition and a full golf driving range are also available. There are also numerous other golf courses within an easy drive and there are 4 public tennis courts nearby on the island. The area is renowned for its wide range of water sports. Short or long term power boat and jet-ski rental can easily be arranged for cruising around the gorgeous ‘Ten Thousand Islands’ and you can moor your own boat to our dock.
Wildlife Watching
Whilst relaxing on the lanai you can watch for manatees, dolphins and numerous varieties of fish in the waterway around the dock. You will frequently see golden eagles, frigate-birds, ospreys, anhinga, dippers, pelicans, turkey vultures, buzzards, grackles, herons and different varieties of the egret family.
Attractions
The ‘Marco Island Trolley’ (239-394-1600) has very informative tour of the island and The Esplanade on Smokehouse Bay is a great place to walk to for some excellent shopping and to watch the boats in the marina. Tin City, by the bridge in on the US41 in downtown Naples, has many ‘old’ shops and restaurants all set inside the former fishing wharf warehouses. Tin City is also the base for excellent sightseeing boat tours, fishing trips and boat rental. The ‘Naples Trolley’ can be boarded at any one of 20 stops including the covered parking area at Tin City, and gives an excellent 2 hour guided tour of the city.
Bayview Park on Naples Bay is a great place to relax in the shade and watch the luxury yachts cruise by. You will enjoy visiting the very interesting Collier County Museum and the Naples Caribbean Garden Zoo is highly recommended and is well known for its rare breed’s collection. The famous and unique Teddy Bear Museum is certainly worth a visit and the Everglades airboat tours in nearby Everglades City are very exciting. For a little more culture try the superb Naples Museum of Art and some of the excellent art galleries in downtown Naples. A little further a field, in Fort Myers, are the historic, adjacent Thomas Edison (inventor) and Henry Ford (car maker) Winter Homes Museums.
